What would you do if you were attending a wedding in the middle of the winter and found yourself confronted with a sudden, unanticipated blizzard? On January 29, 1966, Rebecca Butler and Khalil Khoury were faced with just such a life-changing event? The snow storm, a blizzard really, descended by surprise, a completely uninvited guest, right in the middle of their wedding celebration. Partying happily inside the church hall, no one noticed the quickly falling snow piling up suddenly outdoors, until it was almost too late to escape. It certainly was too late for most of Rebecca and Khalil’s family and friends. The blizzard of January 1966, was the worst snow disaster to hit the D.C. area in almost 50 years.
